The film shows young people who belong to the so-called marginal group in the German Democratic Republic (GDR). These youngsters are skinheads, punks, greens or neo-Nazis. Officially non existent in the GDR. It becomes clear that the young people are looking for their own ways and new ideals. It is often children who were left alone with their problems. For them, violence has become the easiest way to solve conflicts. The film asks for the causes, but does not offer any solutions. Two writers, Stefan Heym and Christa Wolf comment on the topic in the film. Among other things, Christa Wolf has a conversation with two of the right -wing young people. Stefan Heym makes a comparison to the crisis situation in the early 1930s.—DEFA
